Just a quick update on this. The issue came back when Ubuntu updated my compiz packages to the latest 1:0.9.11.1+14.04.20140701-0ubuntu1 versions.
I updated to NVIDIA 340.24, and that didn't help. I had to actually stop lightdm from a tty and manually remove the entire ubuntu-desktop and associated packages (including compiz). Then I had to use apt-get install and manually type in the versions of compiz ,compiz-core,compiz-default-plugins,compiz-gnome,libcompizconfig, and libdecorations to install them all. Then I had to use the dpkg --set- selections to make sure my packages wouldn't get overwritten. Then I reinstalled ubuntu-desktop. Anyway, it seems to be working more-or-less fine again now, but that was a big hassle. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1288747 Title: [334] Parts of the UI randomly flicker when moving the mouse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1288747/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
