I would also point out that Vista has been pushed back for countless reasons, some of which include their design directions. In strict terms of contrast, form should ultimately follow function. Wallpaper in a house is rarely composed of images because it must serve both an aesthetic purpose as well as a functional requirement. Wallpaper on a desktop should be no different. Examine how text and icons appear over the varied portions of the image and you will probably see the result. Further still, we explored photography at the beginning of the cycle and there were many issues. Anything shy of abstract runs the risk of a very distinct connotation, something that was not desired.
