That's true, but I think for someone who knows that it's trivial to do.
For someone that doesn't, it could cause confusion.  You have to know to
keep the copied version up to date.

This would also create a setup dependency where SASL2 would have to be
installed and configured before Postfix, otherwise you have no sasldb2
to copy.  Additionally (although I don't recall for sure) SASL isn't
functional Postfix as installed.

I think if you want to automate this one step, it doesn't make sense
unless you go all the way to provide something that works securely out
of the box (including TLS with plain or login).

So, FWIW, I agree this isn't a dupe of 42911.  It should probably be
part of a larger wishlist item/spec to give a functioning/secure SASL
setup with Postfix as a configuration item.
