I had the same problem, with a hanging TexMaker, but after I ran the command:
pdflatex -syntex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode <YourProjectName>.tex
it respinded with: "! Package tikz Error: Giving up on this path. Did you
forget a semicolon?."
and I had forgotten a semicolon. :/
Made me kinda frusterated that TexMaker never told me, but I was using a
package called tikz which is the only reason I had semicolons in the first
place.

Anyway, Hope this helps... perhaps it is a syntax error? I have not had
a chance to look at the zip file yet, but once I do, it will be chopped
up to find if that is the case.

PS when I was having my problem, I was unable to view the PDF, which is
dissimilar from yours... maybe this is unrelated.
