Hi Christopher

Few hours later the BIOS version was available again and so I updated the BIOS
the next day.
The behavior seems a bit different now - although I can't tell if it's really
because of the BIOS update or Ubuntu updates: Now I get disconnects while the
wireless icon still tells me I'm connected, I have to manually reconnect to the
WiFi network, sometimes I have to disable and enable radio as no networks are
listed. I have yet not encountered any slowness while browsing.

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date returns:
F.56
04/23/2014
