I saw this happen when I tried to log in to my work system this morning,
having been on over the long weekend.

Caps-lock was on, and typing my password was rather awkward as a result.

I have cap-lock bound to Control on this keyboard - there is no key
mapped to caps lock, so it cannot have been the keyboard.

I had to use a Python script, that directly called libX11, found on
stackoverflow to turn off caps lock.
