Thanks for reporting this issue in Xorg and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, there's not enough information to troubleshoot this, because none of the logs include an error message indicating what the problem is.
First, can you try this new -ati that we are evaluating for possible inclusion in Gutsy? http://people.ubuntu.com/~bryce/Testing/ati/ Next, if the bug still occurs, please follow the directions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingXorg to try to find an indication of what the error being encountered is. Alternatively, if you can find a more deterministic way to reproduce the problem quickly, that could be a help.
