No obvious issues with any of the scripts in /etc/rc2.d being shadowed
by an upstart job that's not being started:

(base)vorlon@virgil:/tmp/1312836/rc2.d$ ls -1 S??* | sed -e's,^S..,/etc/init/,; 
s/$/\.conf/' | apt-file search -f
(base)vorlon@virgil:/tmp/1312836/rc2.d$ 

Can you attach /etc/init.d/.depend.start ?
