John: Fair enough (I know about the difference between nv and nvidia - my aim wasn't to help you workaround the problem insomuch as have you reproduce the problem so it could be properly diagnosed). I would have liked to have seen the log and known exactly how the drivers were installed as this is typically the information required to correctly categorise bug reports (this does not mean the issue will be fixed though).
Some bugs can stick around for a long time requiring retesting, debugging and recovery steps after the testing which may be unobvious.
