This still occurs (at least with localhost) with BackupPC 3.3.0 on *buntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr). The Ping6Path value is still "undef" by default. Workaround is to set it to /bin/ping6 (or force it true for localhost): http://sourceforge.net/p/backuppc/mailman/message/27518026/
