Actually I was too early with that statement. 
It was still unstable with the new MB. Not as instable as before but I did not 
remember the bug report as I tried out a few other distros that were all 
stable, so I have found my solution. 

For your reference 
Ubuntu, Mepis and Linux Mint were all unstable.
Suse 10.2, Fedora 7, sabayonne and PCLinuxOS2007 all stable (with old and new 
HW). I am right now using PCLOS, but considering trying out Debian or Suse....

I hope you are also aware of the thread
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=412125. I sort of kept track of
that one to see if there is a solution, but it does not seem to be the
case..  So if you want to close this bug report then that is fine with
me, as I will be keeping away from Ubuntu for a while. I did like it,
but without stability...
