Public bug reported:

First: I bought a new AMD Radeon HD 7750 GPU and installed it, adding
Catalyst from Ubuntu software center and get the propri. drives for it.
After that I had no sound. Found a solution after two days of search-
AMD and pulseaudio dont work toghether, and follow there instructions to
change it to ALSA instead (removed PulsAudio). After that I had sound,
in the system and from the net. No problems, exept for a game that the
sound didn't work on. There soundfiles is in ogg/worbis format, and my
VLC coulden't play them. Find out that was an ALSA library that was
missing (libasound2-dev). Installed that library and after that I can't
get any sound at all. Removed the library, but still no sound. Installed
oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms_0.201404302359~ubuntu12.04.1 in a desperate act
to get the sound back, but no, the silence is total, so I turn to you
now, hoping you can help me out...If it's a bug, it cerain will exist in
that libasound2-dev file, the one that silenced my computer after
installing it (I do restarts rutinly after every insallation, nessesary
or not) / Thanks
