I've created a PPA to provide a cleaner workaround and a much fresher minidlna version (1.1.2).
All thanks must go to Debian packaging work already maintained by Benoît Knecht at https://gitorious.org/debian-pkg/minidlna (and of course the upstream developer). I re-used those sources as they are, just added the ppa1 version and fed it to Launchpad. To install: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:djart/minidlna sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install minidlna I hope you'll find it useful, version 1.1.2 is much better than 1.0.24.
