Hi Bruce, >From what I am beginning to gather it's possible this has something to do with the 'ati' driver which has been upgraded in Tribe 5 than displayconfig-gtk from reading about other bugs on here.
As noted I made no changes to which driver Ubuntu has detected and chosen and clicking Test left a scrambled screen which subsequently locked up (see attachment for what happens) the laptop and required a hard reset. As I say that is what happens if I just boot the live CD on my Thinkpad T40 (32MB Radeon 7500) and then open displayconfig-gtk and hit Test. I have not installed Gutsy Tribe 5 and tried downgrading the driver as of yet. Also trying to configure a dual screen setup (extended or mirrored) and just hitting OK rather than Test seems to crash the applet but that's another matter for another bug I'll report once I have done some more conclusive testing, Vicky ** Attachment added: "GutsyT40Display.jpg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9021543/GutsyT40Display.jpg -- displayconfig-gtk: "Test" fails (scramled screen) even with default settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134706 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
