Try to install latest drivers available from ATI. That solved it for me. A good step-by-step description how to do so is located at ubuntu.com (direct link: http://tinyurl.com/39kpsy). I had the same problems with my PCI-e X600: Starting eg. OO just showed me the splash screen for half a second and then it just closed /wo any error-msg. Now with my 'selfmade' fglrx drivers everything runs just fine. It's really worth taking some minutes to compile your own *.deb's ;)
Error message when starting 'oowriter' from terminal was 'Unknown error forking main binary', strace revealed a 'SIGFPE (Floating point exception) @ 0 (0) ---'. -- [fglrx] openoffice crashes on startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
