I have noticed that when the ethernet cable is unplugged, the icon does show up, but is non functional. All of the icons now seem to be merged into a single menu, so when you click on the nm icon, the single unified menu opens, but has no entries pertaining to nm.
I am guessing that this merged menu was a change in gnome-shell that network-manager had to change to accommodate, and ubuntu updated gnome- shell but not network-manager. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308291 Title: network-manager icon is gone in 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1308291/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
