Well, i'm using ubuntu feisty with kernel from ubuntu gutsy gibbon, 2.6.22-9, and the bug is still there. I can say i don't have to plug it in another usb tho, unplugging and plugging again on the same has always worked.
More important, this bug didn't exist in ubuntu edgy and dapper.
