Hi.
I'm not sure I have had the exact same problem, but I also didn't get a
"process completed" after trying to compile with PDFlatex in texmaker. (Having
a syntex.gz(busy)-file generated in my finder window)
I found my problem to be missing "\\" before the command "\bottomrule" from the
package booktabs. After inserting the linebreak in my tables where I used
\bottomrule, the problem went away, and I could compile normally again.

It might be a little far fetched solution to your problem, and I'm not
very tech savvy so I'm not familiar with all the terms you've used in
this string. Just posting in hope of being able to help.

Cheers.
David.
