I did as you asked. I don't really notice any difference. The suspend issue only happened once with the linux-image-3.13.0-20-generic kernel and it is up to -22 and the issue has not repeated.
There is something unexpected here with the 3-14 kernel: the driver acpi_cpufreq is not being used, but one I have never seen before: intel_pstate. I web searched around and didn't find too much. I generally favor the "conservative driver under acpi_cpufreq but the intel_pstate only offers performance and powersave. I understand that using the pstates, it may actually conserve power better but I am not sure what I am experiencing yet.
