Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: displayconfig-gtk

Open displayconfig-gtk. Don't change any settings. Just press button
that says Test.

I would have expected that nothing would happen -- shouldn't the
settings chosen per default by displayconfig-gtk be the "current"
settings? (The default settings say: Model: Plug'n'play, Resolution
1280x800 at 60Hz, Graphics card: ATI Radeon, Driver: "ati - ATI Mach 8,
Mach 32, Mach 64, and RageX...")

But what happens is that I get a scrambled screen. The "keep this
configuration" pop-up is visible, and I can press Alt-c to select
Cancel. Then the screen totally scambles up and everything hangs. (Ctrl-
Alt-Backspace doesn't help, Ctrl-Alt-F1 does nothing, power button does
nothing).

Gutsy, Tribe 5, upgraded from Feisty. Dell laptop, ATI Radeon X300.

I think I am using a non-restricted driver (sorry for being a total
noob..).
