Public bug reported: mysql-server-core-5.5 includes the mysql_install_db script, which uses mysql's resolveip script. However, this script is not included in the mysql-server-core-5.5 package, only in mysql-server-5.5.
This leads to the following (confusing) error message: # mysql_install_db Neither host 'devjelle2' nor 'localhost' could be looked up with /usr/bin/resolveip Please configure the 'hostname' command to return a correct hostname. If you want to solve this at a later stage, restart this script with the --force option # lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS Release: 12.04 # apt-cache policy mysql-server-core-5.5 mysql-server-core-5.5: Installed: 5.5.35-0ubuntu0.12.04.2 Candidate: 5.5.35-0ubuntu0.12.04.2 Version table: *** 5.5.35-0ubuntu0.12.04.2 0 500 http://us-west-1.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 5.5.35-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 0 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-security/main amd64 Packages 5.5.22-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us-west-1.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages ** Affects: mysql-5.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1296996 Title: mysql-server-core-5.5 should include resolveip To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.5/+bug/1296996/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
