So since cdparanoia is effectively broken since edgy I invested some time to solve this issue (at least for me).
cdparanoia 3.10+debian~pre0-5 and cdparanoia-III-10pre0 (self compiled) both hang at this stage: # cdparanoia -B -d/dev/scd0 cdparanoia III release 10pre0 (August 29, 2006) [..] (== PROGRESS == [> | ...... 32 ] == :-P o ==) Ripping with "-Z" does not hang and is super fast but the resulting wav files could damage ones speakers. There is nothing which sounds like the music to be ripped. Using cdparanoia-III-alpha9.8 the music is ripped like it should be. Even with "-Z" (which is not nearly as fast as with 3.10) everything sounds ok. # lsscsi [0:0:3:0] cd/dvd PLEXTOR CD-ROM PX-12TS 1.02 /dev/scd0 ** Attachment added: "strace of cdparanoia 3.10+debian~pre0-5" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8971713/cdparanoia.log -- unable to listen/rip cd after latest update of cdparanoia https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106000 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
