@Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot (crichton) and John Kim (kotux) : Thanks for taking the time to answer; I have uninstalled the offending qemu package. Besides, I won't test that environment again, especially because I have now a native Ubuntu 13.10 system (not "VMed"), and I will try to compile and nstall a newer qemu package on it. I'll let you know if I experience similar issues.
@Joseph Salisbury (jsalisbury) : thanks for your answer. same as above +: 3.14 is not yet stable. I have already installed 3.13.6 on my new native Ubuntu , and I have boot problem with: - an endless purple screen on the first boot, but I have access to the grub menu on the second boot right after the first one. Yes, I know, it sounds strange! - choosing 3.13.6 leads to the same endless purple screen; I suspect issues with the video driver (Nvidia on my system) Luckily, I can still boot with the old 3.11 kernel. But this release has old buggy drivers.... Speaking of which I do not understand why it is so complicated to install proprietary drivers such as Nvidia graphic ones. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242093 Title: Black Screen in Ubuntu 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1242093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
