You can run xwininfo after a boot by doing the following: 1. Switch to a text terminal (alt-ctrl-F1) 2. Log in 3. Run $ export DISPLAY=:0 $ export XAUTHORITY=/var/run/lightdm/root/:0 $ xwininfo -tree -root
