I had the same proplem as the OP, with an AMD Sempron and Toshiba 60GB ATA drive. After creating the partition with gparted on ubuntu feisty live cd, I reinstalled windows on one of the partitions, but now gparted sees the entire drive as unallocated space. fdisk -l gives the following output from a live cd:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 10 80293+ de Dell Utility /dev/sda2 11 1316 10485760 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda3 1316 4424 24969124 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda4 4425 7296 23069340 5 Extended The first two partitions came with the disk and I decided not to mess with them. The third one is the first partition I made that successful boots into windows. The fourth one is the one I intend to split into ext3 and swap for ubuntu. Some help would be appreciated. I tried to use the gparted from the gparted live cd (version 0.3.4-8) but that had the exact same problem. -- gparted doesn't recognize the partitions it created https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/47449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
