Public bug reported:

I am running a current-updated version of 14.04.

I have a USB to Serial cable with an embedded FTDI chip.

When I plug the cable in, I *think* it should be assigned a /dev/ttyUSB0
slot...I can then map that as need for my application.

I do not get this assignment.
