Public bug reported: I've just set up a new installation of Ubuntu 13.10, then installed KDE 4.12.2 from the kubuntu-ppa (ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports). One of the reasons for doing this was to take advantage of the GPG backend for Kwallet, as the more secure my saved passwords are the better.
The KDE installation seems to be working just fine, so I set up a new Kwallet (called kdewallet) and chose the GPG encryption option. I had set up a new GPG key for this purpose, so I chose that as the signing key and clicked "finish". The new wallet appeared to be working, so I imported my old wallet using an XML export. This successfully imported my passwords into the new wallet, so I carried on working for the rest of the day using this wallet. Today, I logged in and tried to open the wallet, but was greeted with the following error dialog box Error when attempting to decrypt the wallet kdewallet_broken using GPG. If you're using a SmartCard, please ensure it's inserted then try again. GPG error was Bad passphrase Clicking "Retry" just shows the same dialog box again, clicking "cancel" just leaves the wallet closed. I've tried creating new empty wallets with the GPG backend, but get exactly the same behaviour after a log out and in cycle. For the time being, I've reverted to using the classic encryption method, which works just fine. ** Affects: kubuntu-ppa Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Kubuntu PPA. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1285655 Title: Cannot access Kwallet with GPG encryption after logging out and back in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/+bug/1285655/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
