I had a quick look and found the following:

 - debian/copyright says the package is under GPL-3+, which is fine - you just 
need to go and add a COPYING file with the license to the package itself
 - debian/copyright says "Portions Copyright (C) 2011 Canonical Ltd." - what 
does this mean?
 - desktop/background.jpg is empty
 - there's a ubuntu-defaults-nl-nl and a ubuntu-defaults-nl binary package - 
both have the same descriptions - this is confusing
 - you might want to set debian/source/format to "3.0 (native)"
 - current standards-version is 3.9.5
