This time it occured after updateing and failing to reboot cleanly. It didn't seem to complete the shutdown/reboot sequenceproperly, the keyboard was inactive and the "on-screen keyboard" didn't work either. I powered off and started again and though it was slower than normal booting it seems to have recovered. John
