Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scim

(with Gutsy up to date)
I use locale fr_FR, but I want to use scim-pinyin

so in 'gnome-language-selector' I checked "Use advance input method".

now:
 * im-switch -l says that "scim" is in use. (available are scim,
scim-immodule, default, none)
 * I see the scim icon in the notification area, the demon is running
 * xsession-error show no error message
 * GTK_IM_MODULE = xim

but neither "ctrl+space" or anything actually activates the input method.
and if I try to use the GTK left button menu to change input method, it doesn't
change and stays with xim.

(I'm pretty sure it's what I did in ubuntu 7.04, and it worked.)

** Affects: scim (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
