It looks like you were running the package manager more than once, or
perhaps interrupted it from a previous run.

This problem is closely related to your dpkg lock.

$ sudo lsof /var/lib/dpkg/lock-open

If that shows no output, then you may remove that file.

Then, $ sudo apt-get clean

Then, install as normal.
