I confirmed this bug for my insprion 15 (3521) with ubuntu 13.10 just instllaed alongisde windows 8.1. Partition for ubuntu has been made by gparted with ubuntu live cd.
I refuse to disable "Secure Boot" for windows. I work-around the bug by going to "system option" from grub etc ... to find a windows bootable partition in there instead of using grub entry. Please fix this.
