This bug does not occur with Cinnamon 2.0.14 on Ubuntu 13.10. A workaround is to add
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable/ubuntu saucy main to your repositories. One word of caution though: When I did that, I lost a lot of my settings. This required delving into dconf-editor to repair, because Cinnamon's preferences GUI on Ubuntu is rather confusing.
