I have just verified that the DVD device on the HP Zbook 15 is physically OK, not damaged.
(I took a DVD with Linux Mint 13 LTS, 64-bit, plugged it into the DVD drive and the system nicely booted into the live session.) BTW, this system (Mint 13) uses many components of ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise), including the kernel. Hence Precise would also successfully boot up. Being unable to boot Trusty from DVD, I can not install it on my hard drive. Consequently, I do not know if a Trusty installed on a HDD would freeze or not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1255104 Title: HP ZBook 15 Try Ubuntu via Live environment freezes system after a while To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1255104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
