** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic Power saving seems not to work on HP Compaq 6715s RU658EA. This laptop has Turion TL-58 on chipset ATI M690T. Frequency scaling works fine, but even when running on the lowest frequency and in idle load, fan turns too often up. I looked into /proc/acpi/processor/C000 and found out this: # uname -a Linux lomilomi 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 19:00:28 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux # cat /proc/acpi/processor/C000/info processor id: 0 acpi id: 1 bus mastering control: yes power management: no throttling control: yes limit interface: yes # cat /proc/acpi/processor/C000/limit active limit: P0:T0 user limit: P0:T0 thermal limit: P0:T0 # cat /proc/acpi/processor/C000/power active state: C1 max_cstate: C8 bus master activity: 00000000 maximum allowed latency: 8000 usec states: *C1: type[C1] promotion[--] demotion[--] latency[000] usage[00000000] duration[00000000000000000000] - (and the same values for second core).
