I updated to 13.10 a while back and have run into new problems with this fix.
First, if I continue to run emerald with compiz in xubuntu every time a window is closed and then reopened it grows a few pixels both horizontally and vertically. Switching back to gtk-window-decorator solves this problem, but it's not as nice. :) The other problem is the opposite of what was happening before. Windows that would usually have opened up maximized ignore the minimize window control produced by gtk-window-decorator, but they can be minimized if I right-click on the icon in the window buttons tray and choose minimize.
