Mathieu, I'm well are of the gtk_label_set_ellipsize() function but the reason why I didn't use in the first place is because it only cut off long string after x number of characters then append '...' to it. I didn't like the idea because you'd lose the meaningful portion of info near the end of the long string so imo it's a bad way to truncate long string in user interface
In comparison, here's how a long device desc will look like under two different method of truncation gtk_label_set_ellipsize() -> Qualcomm Atheros AW-NE785 / AW-NE7... what my patch suggests -> Qualcomm Atheros AW-NE785..
