The existing virt-aa-helper profile only allows:

/var/lib/nova/images/** r,
  /var/lib/nova/instances/_base/** r,

Judging by comment #8, it sounds like adding

/var/lib/nova/instances/snapshots/** r,

should do the trick.  This should then allow virt-aa-helper to add the
snapshot images to the domain's whitelist as well.

Can someone test that?  If noone reports in the next few days whether
thtat works or not, then I will optimistically add the rule to the
trusty package.
