penalvch, sorry but on the make -j.. command I get loads of the
following errors referring to what appears to be a corrupt generated
arch/x86/include/generated/asm/syscalls_64.h file:

__SYSCALL_COMMON(ESC[35mESC[K/home/jamesmeast/linux-stable/arch/x86/syscalls/syscall_64.tblESC[mESC[KESC[36mESC[K:ESC[mESC[KESC[01;31mESC[K0ESC[mESC[K,
 sys_read, sys_read)
__SYSCALL_COMMON(ESC[35mESC[K/home/jamesmeast/linux-stable/arch/x86/syscalls/syscall_64.tblESC[mESC[KESC[36mESC[K:ESC[mESC[KESC[01;31mESC[K1ESC[mESC[K,
 sys_write, sys_write)

It appears to have been generated with esc characters for colorizing the
line numbers?? I guess it shouldn't do that.

Do you know what I've done wrong?
