Hello watchout for bug #1262752 "nvidia_304 not blacklisted or removed when nvidia_304_updates is installed"
Besides I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that Kubuntu 12.04 initially was supllied without support of LightDM, thus the last update to it's greeter lightdam-kde-greeter was somewhat in April 2012. Even though it has matured in younger versions of Kubuntu.
