Experiencing similar behaviour from zenbook ux302lg. Pinning and upgrading to trusty kernel gives me slightly different outcomes (I get a backlight down and red streak appear) before backlights up and blank screen where I hear the Cowbell of lightdm.
I don't get the red tear at all with Saucy default kernel.
