I tend to say yes. It is not consistently reproducible, i.e. there is
days when it works, others when it doesn't.

Status quo: I set my router to BG band a few days ago because I had the
above described problems constantly. Upon receiving your question  I
turned on (BG)N again and the problem came back, while on devices
uncapable of N I get decent speed and no problems. I cannot make out the
reason for it working one day and the other not.

I will get back to you when I have time for testing the kernel from
comment #5.
