Now I found the real brocken packages: * busybox-initramfs * busybox-static
both version of > 1:1.21.0-1ubuntu1 < Downgrading to the former packages version > 1:1.20.0-8.1ubuntu1 < lets boot the system without any malfunction. In accordance with the date of installation of the latest busybox packages approx. nov. 15th the failfunction couldn't be detected directly due to the later installation / upgrade of an imagefile approx. nov. 21st. So I haven't any correlations indicating the real reason. What I did: Restoring a backup taken early november and updated all relevant packages step by step to find out the troublemaker. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254428 Title: update-initramfs breaks booting kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1254428/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
