Great,  I have recompiled geany with the proposed patch (which is thus
compatible with geany-1.23 for Ubuntu 13.10) and the bug seems fixed.

BWT, funny coincidence: an apparently similar bug occurred when opening
the diff file with geany :) I have not investigated the origin, since in
this case, the bug os of very low importance -- no dramatic consequence
of terminal flooding for non-script file formats.
