Though I had disabled all ppa, I was not able to upgrade to saucy. Then following your instructions I removed xorg-edgers-ppa, but the problem remains. I have been using ubuntu for years, and have sufferd many issues, but I've never found myself being "rejected" to upgrade. It's not critical for me, I can keep in raring. It's just to share a problem that may indicate different issues.
