Hi. I have too a 6600GT(AGP) and installed kubuntu on my box but : The 6.06LTS cd is not usable in native resolution (1280x1024). X is usable in 1024x768 resolution so it has to be specified at boot time. I had later a problem with mouse cursor chich didn't appeared, the fact that mouse makes buttons move when hover helps a lot for install. If you're blind without X, you try the vesa driver instead of nv, worked well for me.
