Hi Christopher. While both bugs might not be duplicates from a bug reporting standpoint, I'm most certain they are the exact same issue. As for bug 185600, it was *incorrectly* marked "Fix Release". If you go to it, you'll notice it was marked such after comment 71, yet comment 74 recants comment 71 but the fix release mention was incorrectly left there. It is clear from all comments following that a fix has never been found.
I understand your comments regarding nouveau vs. proprietary nvidia drivers.
