It is Monday morning and I have just started my PC. The desktop came up as a blue gradient which is what I set it to as part of my testing last week - rather than just a black background. I then opened Evolution and moved the window about - no smearing! I then opened Firefox and did a few things then opened Nemo then I moved the Nemo window and noticed that it was smearing again (not blaming Nemo by the way). All very strange. My desktop background is black now too. It seems like everything is fine initially then after a while is goes wrong. Perhaps some kind of server is failing or something like that.
