*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 947748 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947748
In my case, I'm using an nvidia card on a Thinkpad, with EnableBrightnessControl set. On at least the Intel driver, xrandr --verbose presents both 'BACKLIGHT' and 'Backlight'. The nvidia driver (with EnableBrightnessControl set) offers only the latter. libgnome-desktop (used by gnome-settings-daemon) seems to look for only the former. xbacklight looks for both names; this must be why it works when Gnome does not. That other bug report (#947748) has several different issues lumped into it. I'd like to remove the "duplicate" flag, since this report mentions the xbacklight behavior. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947919 Title: Can't change brightness with keyboard or with "Brightness and Lock" settings panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/947919/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
