Christopher M. Penalver, thanks for your clear instructions. I tested with linux-image-3.12.0-031200rc6-generic, and this problem persists. I also found that when booting the machine, I can adjust the brightness when GRUB2 is loaded, and then when I boot into Ubuntu, I'm stuck at whatever brightness level I had in GRUB2.
Good hunting, and thanks! I'll be happy to offer any more information you might need. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.12.0-031200rc6 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1178727 Title: 8086:0046 Screen brightness can not be adjusted in Raring with Intel Ironlake graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1178727/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
